Caregiver
Become a HomeLife
At HomeLife, caregivers aren't just staff — they are the heart of everything we do. We are looking for people who understand that showing up for someone, day after day, is one of the most meaningful things a person can do.
Why HomeLife
A team that takes care of the people who take care.
Scott and Mandy Spencer started HomeLife because they know firsthand what it feels like to show up for someone who needs you day after day, through the hard moments and the tender ones. That experience shapes everything about how they run this team.
When you join HomeLife, you're not a placement on a schedule. You're someone whose work matters deeply, and you'll feel that in how we treat you from your very first conversation with us.
Pay that respects your work. We pay above the Michigan average, with real benefits and paid sick leave. Not because we have to, but because caregivers who feel valued stay longer, show up fully, and care more deeply. That's better for our team, and better for every person we serve.
A flexible schedule that works for your life. You give a lot to the people in your care. We want to make sure you have enough left for the rest of your life. Tell us what works for you, and we'll do our best to honor it.
Relationships you’ll actually cherish. We match caregivers and clients thoughtfully, and we keep those matches consistent. The people you care for won't be strangers for long — and that's by design.
Room to grow. We invest in your training because better-supported caregivers give better care. Whether you're new to the field or experienced, we'll help you build on what you already bring.
Who we are looking for
Qualifications matter. Character matters more.
We hire people, not just résumés. The best caregivers we've known combine genuine warmth with quiet reliability; they show up, they listen, and they treat every individual in their care with the dignity that person deserves.
Compassionate and patient. You lead with empathy and understand that every person’s pace is different.
Dependable. The families we serve count on consistency. Reliability is foundational to the trust we build.
Respectful of independence. Great caregivers support; they don't take over. You help people do what they can, and assist where they need it.
A clear communicator. You keep families and our team informed, and you're comfortable asking questions when something isn't clear.
Experience welcome, but not always required. We provide thorough onboarding and ongoing training. What we can't teach is heart, and if you have that, we want to hear from you.
How it works
From application to your first shift
1. Submit your application
Fill out our short online form. Tell us a bit about yourself and your experience.
2. A conversation with our team
We’ll reach out to schedule a relaxed, informal conversation. We want to get to know you, not just evaluate you.
3. Background check and onboarding
We conduct thorough background screening, followed by a structured onboarding process and training that sets you up to feel confident from day one.
4. Caregiver matching
We take time to thoughtfully match you with clients whose needs and personalities complement your strengths. Good matches make for better care — and a more rewarding experience for everyone.
Ready to join a team that leads with purpose?
We’d love to hear from you.
“The caregivers who join HomeLife aren’t just employees to us. They carry forward everything we built this for. We are grateful for every one of them.”
